Our History

Founded in 1991, California Junior Lifeguards has grown from a small local initiative into one of the leading youth ocean safety programs in the state. Over the years, we have trained thousands of young ocean enthusiasts, helping them develop essential skills in lifesaving, fitness, and environmental stewardship.

Larry Jacklin – Chief Executive Officer

Larry is an Orange County native who has been partnered up with California Junior Lifeguard Programs since 1998, because he strongly believes in the positive message and experience all of the participants take with them from the programs. With the ideal environments presented, this local father of three, utilizes the opportunity to actively ensure a fun, positive and safe aquatic environment for the participants and local community. He enjoys promoting ocean safety, health, nutrition, and environmental preservation. Some of Larry’s experience and qualifications include being a Lifeguard Instructor with the *American Red Cross* , Jr. Lifeguard Director, and experience educating all ages of the community about CPR, First Aid and Surf Instruction.
